Welcome back to Details that Matter!



We’re glad to have you back, and we want to invite you to walk through some of the features of Norscot’s Caterpillar 982M Wheel Loader, the new 1/50 Scale model they are rolling out as we write.

CAT has a history of excellence in the industry, and Norscot maintains that standard in their replicas as well. Molded with care, this diecast wheel loader mimics many of the features that make the real thing a great addition to the mid-sized wheel loader family.

At first glance the detailed hood compartment, textured and branded to precision, creates a standard held by the rest of the replica, down to the realistic step on the side of the compartment.

The rubber tires on the 982M are another sign of this model’s level of excellence. Rather than a molded plastic, the rubber tires have a realistic tread very similar to that of the full-sized CAT, including the detailed and textured hub that protects the inner workings of the wheel from the dangers of the worksite.

Taking a look underneath the 982M, we can see the realistically molded axles and power train along with a pivot point that allows the model to articulate freely. Along with a detailed undercarriage, you also get a peek at the moveable replica hydraulics (read more about those below).

Following the engine compartment is the cab, which has been reproduced to simulate what CAT describes as a system that is all about “improving operator efficiency” by ensuring that “operators are safe, confident in control of their machines and have clean, comfortable and quiet operating environments with controls that are intuitive and low effort.”

The molded, moveable hydraulics we saw while taking a look at the undercarriage are on full display in front of the cab, bookended on either side by highly detailed, plastic molded mirrors.

The hydraulics themselves mirror the fresh design of the new, longer lift arms made specifically to handle the larger loads the 982M has been engineered to handle.

Norscot has given us another great model, intricately duplicated to reflect the power, durability, and increased productivity of the new 982M Wheel Loader from CAT. Arriving in May, this model is available for Pre-Order now.
